Working principle

The MAT sorter offers an economical and easy solution for removing large defects and foreign material from a stream of good products at the beginning of the production line.
Metal, glass, rocks, bones, rodents, frogs, mice, grasshoppers and many other large defects are detected and rejected.

With the MAT you will decrease damage to processing equipment, and reduce additional sorting later in the process, thus improving overall plant productivity and product quality. Different types of LED’s are mounted above a conveyor belt and light up the product. Sensors, mounted in between the light sources, will measure the reflection of the light and compare this to user settings. The reflection will be different depending on the color of the product. When the defect is detected it will be removed by means of a pneumatic flap rejection system at the end of the conveyor, which will divert the defects away from the product stream. The MAT LED sorter is user-friendly, easy to integrate and operate. It contains control circuitry for the entire system and allows adjustments of detection sensitivity and rejection timing.
